Choose the perfect colour and fabric for your sun protection

Sun protection not only determines how much shade you create, but also how your home and terrace feel. The right combination of colour, coating finish and fabric creates visual calm, architectural harmony and optimal comfort — indoors and outdoors.

From warm, perfectly matched colours to stylish fabrics with maximum heat protection: at Brustor, you can fully customise your sun protection to match your home, taste and lifestyle.

Choose a shade that complements your façade

The right colour enhances your home’s architecture

Whether you choose timeless white, warm anthracite tones or a bold dark look: the colour of your sun protection has a major impact on the overall appearance of your home.

With more than 200 RAL colours, you can perfectly match your sun protection to your windows, façade and outdoor space. The result is a harmonious whole that radiates calm and character.

The aluminium profiles are finished with a high-quality powder coating according to the Qualicoat label. This guarantees durable protection and a refined finish.

You can choose from different finishes:

  • matte

  • satin gloss

  • fine texture coating (most popular)

Fine texture coating is especially popular thanks to its subtle grain texture, which not only looks modern but is also extra scratch-resistant and easy to maintain.

Most popular colours

  • RAL 7016 ST – anthracite grey (fine texture)

  • RAL 7039 ST – quartz grey (fine texture)

  • RAL 9005 ST – jet black (fine texture)

  • RAL 9016 ST – traffic white (accent or louvres)

These colours are often chosen for their timeless architectural appearance and combine perfectly with contemporary building styles.

Quality you can see and feel

Coating that stays beautiful for years

Brustor’s coating process is carried out entirely in-house and guarantees a durable, premium-quality finish.

Thanks to the electrostatic powder coating process, the coating adheres perfectly to the aluminium and is cured in an oven. This ensures:

  • long-lasting colour retention

  • strong protection against scratches and impacts

  • resistance to UV radiation and weather conditions

  • a smooth and flawless finish

This way, your sun protection remains just as beautiful as on the day it was installed.

Trend colours in modern architecture

In contemporary homes, we mainly see:

  • deep matte black shades

  • textured coatings

  • warm anthracite colours

  • subtle metallic accents

  • wood-look finishes (for example for louvres or wall panels)

These colours combine perfectly with materials such as wood, concrete, render and steel, reinforcing the modern character of your home.

More than just sun protection

The right fabric determines light, atmosphere and privacy

The fabric of your sun protection not only determines how much sunlight is blocked, but also how your indoor and outdoor spaces feel.

At Brustor, you can choose from premium fabrics by leading brands such as Dickson, Sattler, Swela, Serge Ferrari and Mermet. This guarantees quality, durability and colour fastness.

Types of fabrics

Acrylic fabrics (for awnings)

  • Filter a large part of UV radiation

  • Colourfast thanks to solution-dyed fibres

  • Weather-resistant

  • Available in more than 170 colours and patterns

  • Natural, warm textile appearance

👉 Tip: when it rains, it is best to retract the fabric to keep it in optimal condition.

Screen and zip fabrics

Screen and ZIP fabrics are often used for vertical solar shading and combine light transmission with protection against sun and heat.

  • Reduce heat and glare

  • Maintain outward visibility (depending on the fabric)

  • Provide daytime privacy

You will often see technical terms such as openness factor. In simple terms, this means:

👉 the lower the percentage, the less you can see through the fabric and the better it blocks sunlight

  • 1–3% → maximum shading and privacy

  • 5–10% → more visibility and more daylight

Blackout fabrics (0%) are also available, offering complete darkness — ideal for bedrooms.

Which fabric colour should you choose?

The colour of your fabric directly impacts light, comfort and privacy.

Dark fabrics:

  • Reduce glare

  • Block more heat

  • Offer better daytime privacy

  • Ideal for south-facing façades or busy environments

  • Provide better visibility to the outside

Light fabrics:

  • Allow more natural light

  • Create an open, airy feel

  • Provide softer indoor light

👉 Keep in mind that lighter fabrics are more sensitive to dirt, and at night, visibility from outside is possible regardless of colour.

Additional options

Our fabrics offer a wide range of design possibilities:

  • Solid colours

  • Stripes or patterns

  • Decorative prints

For hospitality businesses or shops, personalised printing is also possible, such as adding a logo or brand name to the fabric.

Expert tip

Always view colours and fabrics in real daylight. Light conditions, surroundings and façade materials strongly influence how a colour appears.

Not sure? Always check samples in real daylight together with an authorised Brustor dealer at your home.
