Two awnings, twice the space
For Nathalie and her family, a large part of their lives plays out in the garden, from the first spring sun until late in the autumn. Over the last few years, step by step, they have worked on creating a cosy patio and garden. Their two Brustor awnings are now the ultimate setting for carefree summer evenings with friends and beautiful time spent together at the table – a place where it’s okay to slow things down a bit. ‘We worked hard for years. Modern renovated farmhouse
‘We’re self-employed so my husband and I work long hours. When we’re at home, all we want is to relax and enjoy ourselves. I love to cook a meal at home for friends to share together.’ Their home and garden is the ideal setting for this. ‘We bought this house 22 years ago as a dilapidated farmhouse. Since then, we have renovated it and put a lot of work into the swimming pool, extension and garden so we can enjoy it even more.’
‘We were looking for a way to be able to sit outside even when it gets colder; we’re real outdoor people. We didn’t really want a veranda, so we had two awnings installed, one of which has heating.’

Twice the space for entertaining friends
‘Aged 17 and 18, our two children spend a lot of time in the extension with their friends. There’s a full bar so they can throw parties there; that’s really all they need. Thanks to the awning, we use the extension a lot more than we ever thought we would. We open the windows and lower the folding arm awning. This nearly doubles the available space.’

‘We also have an awning attached to our living room. We sit there from spring to autumn; rain or shine, we always sit outside. We were looking for something to match our house – the classic feel of the farmhouse but combined with a modern style – and we felt an awning was the best choice. It was a conscious decision not to get a pergola because I also want to be able to close the folding arm awning now and then. Now we can play around with it; you can open it all the way or just halfway; that’s what I love about it.’
‘We installed lighting under the housing for a great finishing touch. The style of the folding arm awnings is a perfect fit for our home: a square housing was too modern, a round one too classic, so we went with something in between. We chose black since everything is black in our home, including the furniture. And when you’re sitting under it, it’s much cosier than sitting under a white awning.’

Time to enjoy
‘I’m a true summer person. I love summer, the long days and great weather. But I also really enjoy spring: being able to sit outside wearing a body warmer, the smell of nature, the sound of the birds. Our awnings make it possible to do this even more often. We’ve done a lot of work on our garden in the last few years and now it’s time to enjoy, enjoy and enjoy some more.’
