In their quest for more living space, a patio cover was a logical choice; after all, in summer, the barbecue is the heart of their home. A relaxing afternoon for two or just a moment in the sun: for Marc , being outside means pure enjoyment.

In summer, their home’s central meeting place moves outside. Under the patio cover, the screens keep out wind and bright sun. When the barbecue is on and the table is set, the mood is always sunny. Even when Belgian summer weather is at its most erratic.
‘There’s nothing more annoying than having to move the entire table inside in the middle of a dinner party. Thanks to the patio cover with louvred roof, we can stay right where we are, even when it rains. We can also use the extra living space to relax or have a drink. Sometimes, we play a game of Rummikub or read a book in peace and quiet.’
And as autumn approaches, they can still spend a lot of time outside. ‘We can continue to use the barbecue, even in the colder months. We do sit indoors, but thanks to the connection between our home and the outdoor space, we can still interact with our guests.’

Clean and light
Their home’s modern architecture called for a patio cover that exudes the same style and class. Not a separate addition, but a natural extension of their living space. ‘The house is sleek and modern; for the most part, everything is white and fairly minimalist. Not only is it calming, it also suits our taste.’
The covered patio is a great fit. The contrast between the wood floor and the white accents produces a timeless result where the light also has free rein. The louvres let just the right amount of sunlight in. As the sun gets lower in the sky, the warm tones give the wood a bit of a glow.
Their patio cover feels natural now, like it’s always been there. Summer or winter, with guests or just the two of them: at Marc’s home, the joy of being outdoors is what it’s all about. Their patio cover allows them to do so comfortably.
‘We wanted to create something that allows us to spend more time outside. Mainly for barbecuing and spending quality time with friends and family but still sheltered from wind or rain. Our goal was to take full advantage of the outdoors.’
