3 tips to get the most out of your balcony

Not everyone enjoys a large garden with lots of maintenance, flowerbeds, and a vegetable garden. Sometimes, a small balcony (or patio) is just about right. But how can you get the most out of your little haven of peace? That's the million dollar question. Ready to roll up your sleeves?

Tip #1: Install a compact awning

Let's not mince matters: global warming makes sure that the sun is shining more and harder. Nowadays, awnings or sun-resistant screens are no longer a luxury product, but a necessity. Especially when you’ve got your hands on an eligible light-filled apartment.

Luckily for you, we now have a new, compact awning in our assortment, the B50S, that is ideal for shading a small area. In that way, you not only provide shade on your balcony (or patio), but also ensure that it stays fresh inside. It's a win-win situation!

Big plus! Our awnings can be equipped with LED lighting, so you can enjoy your balcony in the evening without having to leave the lights on in your apartment.

Tip #2: Implement vertical greenery

It goes without saying that there’s not much space to brighten up your balcony with colorful flowerbeds or start a true vegetable garden. Yet, that doesn't have to be a reason to ignore your green thumb. As Mary Poppins would say: there’s nowhere to go but up. Simply use your wall to grow plants, herbs, grapes, berries … Anything that goes up not only takes up less space, but also adds a new dimension to your balcony. That’s how we kill two birds with one stone!

Tip #3: Furnish in a smart way

Appearances can be deceiving. That’s why it’s important to furnish your balcony in such a way that it seems larger than it really is. For example, a table and two chairs on a balcony can take up a lot of space. Therefore, it would be smarter to choose folding furniture which you can easily put aside. Do you see the possibilities?

Also, translucent decoration works well in a small area. As you can see through it, the space does not shrink. And always choose a quiet color palette so the space has a broader feel to it.

As the sun is out, it’s time to spring-clean your balcony and give it a new look by applying our three tips. We promise your balcony will be a true gem!
