Looking for the most beautiful patio in Bruges?
You’ll find it at Brasserie de Waterkant. Anyone who has ever walked or cycled around Sint-Pietersplas knows the sensation: the area around the lake automatically makes you slow down. On the patio of Brasserie de Waterkant, the sun also lingers just a little longer. ‘People call our patio the most beautiful one in Bruges,’ says chef-owner Benedicte with a smile. ‘And we definitely get it. Wherever you take a seat, you are surrounded by water.’
Always outdoors, rain or shine
Since 2019, Benedicte and her partner Karel have been serving up a generous helping of love for good food, a warm welcome and a patio that beckons you, all year round. De Waterkant’s patio seats around 150 guests, and thanks to the B128 P with retractable fabric roof, they can enjoy the brasserie in every season.

‘Our patio cover gives us the freedom to adapt the patio any time to the weather.’
A patio for any season
Mounted to the brasserie structure, the patio cover creates an extra strip of shade in summer where guests can relax and recharge. During the coldest months, the patio heater works a treat. And there’s a configuration for every weather forecast in the seasons in between. ‘It’s the ideal solution for us,’ Benedicte explains. ‘Thanks to the built-in patio heater, guests can sit comfortably, even in cooler weather. When it rains, we just close the fabric roof again. We deliberately chose a patio cover that would allow us to easily open and close the fabric roof.’

Linger longer, more atmosphere
In the evening, the heated patio offers an intimate, cosy setting. ‘As the sun starts to set, our guests love catching the last rays here. They still ask for a table outside, even during the colder months. We simply open the fabric roof and turn on the patio heating. The awning keeps the heat in so people often linger, staying as late as midnight. We love to see it.’

Enjoying the outdoors in all its simplicity
‘We often host team events and afterwork parties under our patio cover. Because we have two coupled modules, we can fit three large tables under the structure, offering seating for thirty guests . These spots are in high demand.’ De Waterkant is all about atmosphere, and this is obvious in the patio cover’s design: minimalist, black, elegant and a perfect match for the brasserie’s modern black chairs and interior. ‘Its sleek, stylish and user-friendly feel just suits us.’

Simple pleasures, maximum patio life
After closing time, Benedicte and her team also take refuge under the patio cover. ‘During quiet times in the high season, we drink a coffee there early in the morning, and on Sunday evening, we close out the week with the team. We love these simple pleasures.’ In the meantime, the patio is getting even cosier, thanks to the addition of extra warm LED lighting. ‘We always put out a lot of candles, but we wanted to make the atmosphere even nicer with additional lights. No bright lights, just soft light to keep that warm feeling going.’
